DC R1D3R, 26/06/2008 - Microsoft have stated that they have a few surprises in store for gamers at this years E3. Could one of those surprises have something to do with the Doom franchise? Well, the latest rumours circulating the intertubes at the moment, suggest that id Software's long awaited hell on earth shooter, Doom 4, is being developed only for PC and Xbox 360 hardware. Details for the game have been found on an E3 site, with the Xbox 360 and PC mentioned as the only platforms the title is being released on. Keep this one in the rumour basket for now until we get some sort of confirmation or denial, but Doom 4 exclusive to Xbox 360 and PC would be quite a scoop for Microsoft.
Quotes form the E3 site:
Doom 4

Developer: id Software
Genre: Shooter

Doom 4 has quite a legacy to live up to. Doom certainly wasn't the first successful FPS, but it is definitely one of the most influential. Follow-ups Doom II: Hell on Earth and Doom 3, as well as 3's expansion pack Resurrection of Evil, only continued to satisfy fan expectations. With id Software co-founder and Doom's architect John Carmack on board, the coming fourth adventure in the series will hopefully be the best one yet.
